Brilliant thread 👏

Finding the von der Leyen speech quite heartbreaking, to be honest. It's a love bomb, of the sort which any sensible person would construct at this moment. But the scale of the historic error is dramatically clear.

I've been thinking about CMS from a developer/designer/manager perspective. There are great players already @gatsbyjs, @tina_cms, @webflow, @semplicelabs, @carbonmade, @CraftCMS, @datocms, @prismicio, @contentful and so many others. Each one playing its own game.

Run back Facebook did today.

They bought a story in a publication, pretended it wasn’t sponsored, their COO posted it, then when they got caught, they denied knowing anything about it.

And what was that ad/story about?

Their commitment to stopping disinformation.

Incredible.

Under Meghan and Harry’s new website, under media, they’ve just torched the UK tabloids and royal media.

@aendrew Yeah, I've got a whole article about how almost everything awful about the web ultimately derives from the decision to fund it via advertising.

a month ago i did an RPG session with an app i wrote to give the party story prompts and a map

it was a complete narrative failure bc there was no kind of plot or goal but i'm super proud of the app

here it is to play like a tiny zen roguelike blog.153.io/sextant

Dear both @Facebook@twitter.com and @LinkedIn@twitter.com: the fact you've emailed me to tell me I have a new message — but then don't use that very email to *let me read the body of the message* — is the height of stupidity.

Honestly, y'all should be straight-up embarrassed.

Hugs 'n' kisses,

I've SAR'ed companies that did employment background checks, as well as my previous mobile network operator. Very interesting indeed.

EU citizens can ask companies for their personal data, and said-companies legally required to respond within a month — even if they're not in the EU! This is a "Subject Access Request"; they're super easy and sometimes results in learning cool things.

I've prepared a template for writing a GDPR Subject Access Request here, please feel free to share (or suggest improvements)!

GoDaddy is the single worst domain provider I've ever used. Their frontend is garbage, they charge for domain privacy, their support people are the most useless in the industry; so glad I'm moving all of my domains away from them. 😡
